TANG!

You know what's awesome? TANG is awesome. I don't know how people can drink other "power" electrolyte drinks after trying TANG. It really is just that awesome.

And it has vitamin C!

I'm going off of this now, because although I've been drinking TANG for quite some time, but I've found a another awesome use for it.

You know how some people squeeze lemon into their tea? TANG works better.

Really, put at teaspoon of TANG into your tea sometime and try it. It tastes awesome.

Oh, and for those of you who spend long hours in front of the computer, well, Vicious Circle is pretty cool. It's a weekly podcast by a group of right-wing bloggers. It's actually pretty entertaining when your knowledgeable about right wing issues. The aftershow is probably the funniest part. My personal favorite is aftershow VC #29, where AmbulanceDriver talks about how he hunts and fishes while on duty.

Punctuality

My buddy(see his blog) is a drummer. I'd like to think he's pretty good, but I'm not qualified to judge that at all. But anyway, I went to go see him perform last night.

The lead singer isn't in the picture. This was taken after the show when the rest of the band was just messing around.

The show itself was alright, but for a single point: the starting time was at 2000hrs, but they didn't finish setting up till about 2025hrs, and the show was finished by 2050hrs. Serious.

But other than that, it was fine. The sad thing was that some of our other friends showed up more than an hour later. I have no idea what they were expecting, since even if the show started on time and lasted two hours, they would have still missed it.

Which brings me to today's point.

Punctuality.

I'm not the most anal person about punctuality. But I will say that beyond a reasonable variance(+/-15mins, depending on the event), lack of punctuality annoys me. I am of the belief it shows lack of respect for the people left waiting, and that their time has no value, and that the tardy expect that those waiting have nothing better to do than to wait for them.

Another thing that causes me to not get along with women, I'm told.

Women, really, just because I'll actually sit there and wait an hour for you and smile when you finally deign to grace me with your presence does not mean I am not annoyed.

I'll just express it with my belt later.

BTW, I got a picture of me shooting trap.

Not the best form, I know, but I was in a rush, handing off the camera and taking the shot while others were waiting. In my defense, I did hit the clay.

In other news:

I'm graduating. Well, supposedly. I have somehow managed to scrape up enough credits for graduation. However, I was supposed to apply for graduation a year before I was to plan on walking. However, due to the cut, dropped, and reduced size classes, I was unable to apply for graduation until a week into the beginning of the semester. Unfortunately, the deadline for applications was the two weeks before then. Now, the earliest date I can graduate is Christmas, instead of May.

Also, it now seems that next semester, I'll be taking a single token class of some kind. Yoga? Advanced Walking? Something with a high female/male ratio, please.

Early morning work is starting again tomorrow, and I can no longer sleep to 0830hrs. Damn.

Your name is Kali

Two things today.

1: I went trap shooting for the first time at Prado Shooting Park in Chino.

I forgot to take pictures, but I assure you, t'was the awesome. And let me tell you, the gun does matter. I couldn't hit shit with Triela(see post: Triela) but did just fine with a rented over/under. My next gun will likely be an over/under, in support of my new pastime. At $7USD for a round of 25+2 clays, it's damn near economical for something requiring guns. And ammunition comes at $22-$25USD/100 at Walmart. How much better can it get!?

Speaking of next guns...

2: Say hello to Kali!

I found the SU-16CA that I've been looking for. Ironically, for the past 6 months that I've been looking for one, there has actually been one about a mile away from the construction site I've been working at for the past 3 months. She was used, but that means I got her for a cheaper price, and there's no way I'm treating her any less because of her used state. I mean, Irena's(see post: Imma call you...Irena) probably killed some Nazi back during WWII, but it doesn't mean I'll love her any less, right?

Well, her name is Kali due to the "CA" designation in her name, which means she's a Kalifornia compliant SU-16, unlike the regular "C" variant, which isn't. She actually folds in half from her usual 35 inch length to a compact 25 inch backpack size. She's also pretty light, about weighing in at around 5lbs with 2 ten round magazines stored in the stock.

I've got one more gun waiting ATM, but was almost about to buy a PSL-54R today(eats the same ammo as Irena).

As it stands now, I'll be looking for a good O/U 12ga trap gun at a bargain.

Pants, Part 2

Can the best pants(see post: Pants) ever get any better?

Well, apparently...uh...yes?

I got a good deal on a pair of 5.11 Tac Lite Pro pants. Which is basically the same pant as the the 5.11 Tactical Pants, but made in a light polyester and cotton ripstop. Which actually make more of a difference than you might think. While durability would normally be a question in the case of such light cloth, 5.11 has a tendency to outlast my greatest expectations. There's also an extra pocket on the front right thigh, ostensibly for a knife. I put my Fenix L2D flashlight in it, and it fit all six inches. That could fit a full length Ti-Lite.

In other news:

I was listening to Vicious Circle, and they had these links, and...well...curiosity killed the cat. It is quite educational, though.

What's this? Free money?!

I keep seeing ads and banners around saying that
"Obama will give you $2500 to go to school!"
and it really pisses me off.

First of all, OBAMA is not giving you money, my taxes are giving you money. It's not his money, why the hell does he have the right to hand it out! Hell, if you're a working wo/man, it's your money that he's oh-so-generously giving back to you!

Secondly, why the hell does Obama's name have to be on it. You can say "the Government." This isn't supposed to be advertisement for Obama's 2012 campaign, right? Recipients will subconsciously(or consciously, at that) begin to equate Obama as a nice man who gave them money to go to school, and vote for him the next time around.

Also, I ran across this picture today. While I would have been a gun-owner eventually, Obama being elected escalated my time table dramatically.

I'm going to buy something at Starbucks even though I dislike their coffee.

Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day, Together!

Being Chinese, it is an inevitable obligation that I must celebrate Chinese New Year every February. While it is by no means a heavy burden on me, I will say it often presents a scheduling dilemma. This year, it just so happens that New Year's Day takes place on the same day as Valentine's Day!

Had I someone to call my Valentine, I would have had trouble scheduling time for her. Then again, the fact that I don't have such a woman is a problem in and of itself.

After several years(3 years, after much wracking of my mind, as of March 31st) of being single, I find myself neither troubled nor content. Sure, life is lonely, but life is also unrestricted. I have no romantic obligation to anyone, yet am not receiving the emotional benefits romantic ties might give me.

In short, I am undecided whether or not my continuing single status is good or bad.
As such, I will continue to live what life I have until the day my perfect(or, much more likely, imperfect) woman drops into my life.

Now that I think of it, if that day ever comes, I'd likely be a wreck after so long without romantic contact with females.

So I will begin the "old-crazy-cat-man" plan. Here's to hoping the "old-crazy-cat-lady" isn't really "old" but is instead really "hot."

This is possibly the worst plan I've ever come up with.

In other news:

A supposedly bipartisan delegation of US Congress members lead by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is visiting Haiti at this moment. While the term bipartisan has been used several times in reports and statements given by Pelosi and other Dems, when you look at the list of delegation members, there is one Republican and eleven Democrats.

Token Republican, maybe?

Unfortunately for the Dems, there is no doubt in my mind they will fail miserably if they attempt to label the revived healthcare bill as bipartisan, seeing as there isn't even that one token Republican there for the Democrats to blame when Obamacare sends the US into medical chaos.

Writing on Hands?

For those of you who don't care about politics or the news at all(I know many of my readers fall into this category. ie. "Health care bill? What health care bill? Scott Brown who?), Obama (Our president, in case you forgot) has a dependence on teleprompters(you want to watch this one), that device that displays text in front of a camera lens without the camera actually recording it.  Well, the other day, Sarah Palin was caught with notes written on her hand.

Anyone who's been through high school can tell you the difference between reading an entire speech/presentation direct from paper and having some notes scribbled on your hand. Hell, even in high school, we were allowed note cards. But the moment Sarah Palin was caught with crib notes in her hands, the liberal media commentators went to town on her. Or attempted to, since people with any bit of common sense couldn't care less about some words scribbled on Sarah Palin's hand. Big whoop.

But for the rest of you folks who insist on lambasting Sarah Palin over this particular incident, this ought to give you a better comparison between Obama's "crib notes" and Sarah Palin's "crib notes."

Let's Ban Pencils Next! They're Sharp!

So our Nanny State has so much spare time and money on its hands that it needs to go out and look for things to legislate.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-footrests9-2010feb09,0,4816374.story?track=rss

Ridiculous. And even if it was a weapon, what a bad choice it was. A metal bar, four and a half inches long, one and a half thick? What's he going to do with it, shove it up someone's *ss?!

Oh, wait, I've got a pen in my pocket. Are the police going to stop me and take me away for carrying it? I mean, it is solid aluminum, about the same length as the kid's bike footrest, and much thinner. Good for stabbing(which was its intended purpose, ironically).

Well, if the police actually stop and search me, that pen is going to be the least of their problems. I usually pack a full EDC(Every Day Carry) load-out: self-aid/survival kit, knife(Osborne 940), multitool(Leatherman Core or Skeletool CX), and a dozen feet of 550 cord. Sometimes, I even pack a backup knife if I'm headed somewhere shadier than the usual.

Wonder if they'll still consider my pen a weapon then?

In other news:

Not going to the desert for SAD day after all. The date's been pushed back till the 27th. Had my bags packed and everything, but hopefully, the weather conditions will be better closer to spring. Hell, maybe more people will come.

Instead, I shall now be spending my Valentine's Day...hell, I have no idea. What the **** am I going to do now?

Recent Comments; Corrupting the Youth

The recent comments widget I always knew I needed, but didn't know existed has been added to this blog, way down as the last item on the side bar. I've found several comments I never knew I received. Hopefully, I can now respond to comments older posts.

Because of this widget, I have found a that another one of my friends(the same young girl to whom I explained what a "booty call" was, see post: Carbon Footprint) is a blogger. I still haven't read through it yet, as it is getting late and I should be getting to bed, but I will tomorrow.

Check it out here.

Early Inmate Release

I don't know if anyone's heard of this, but one of the inmates that was released from prison early due to the budget-shoring early release law has been arrested a mere 13 hours after his release. Apparently he attempted to rape his counselor.

Really now.

I understand that California is pretty much bankrupt. Actually, the only reason that the state government has not yet declared bankruptcy is that there's no provision for it in the law. But of all things to cut funds to, the prison system?

Ok, fine. We are that desperate. At least do it right. I mean, clarify the law and stop confusing people about who should or should not be released, and when. Some counties are releasing people they shouldn't, and others aren't releasing people they should!

What the hell!

Seriously though, crime rates are definitely going to rise, you don't need to be statistician to figure that, but hopefully, those released will be petty thieves, burglars, and non-violent criminals. I'd hate to run into a criminal better armed than I am while on the streets, especially if he's used his weapons to kill someone before.

What would have made this law more tolerable would be for the legislature government to append a "Shall Issue" Conceal Carry Weapons Permit line to the bill. That way, when you release thousands of criminals onto the streets, citizens could have some options for protecting themselves from your new ex-cons. Dial-a-prayer(read: 911) doesn't always bring results you want need. Hell, it's not like they're required to protect you or anything.

In all honesty though, if another would-be burglar tries to climb onto my balcony again, he's going to get 12 pellets of "00" buckshot to the face. Then I'll dial 911 and wait the 8 minutes it takes for them to get here(I know where the nearest sheriff station is, and how long it takes for them to get to my house, non-stop at 60 miles an hour. 8 minutes might even be too short). In 8 minutes, I could sweep my entire house, twice, if not thrice. If I could do it, what's to stop some home-invader?

Toyota recall. Ouch.
Sucks for Toyota. Even as they just overtook GM as the largest automobile producer in the world. Did that have something to do with it? Relaxing quality control standards in favor of beating GM?

I dunno.

I'd rather get a Subaru anyway.

Ninja Edit: Holy Shit. This is awesome. Give a homeless man a guitar and see what you get.

Oh, ****-diddles.

Today, two things happened.

1. I discovered that one of my high school English teachers has a blog.

2. I left a $15,000USD cashier's check at the auction where I work in the mornings.

****-diddles.

First thing tomorrow, a run, then run to the auction.

In other news:

Triela

So I got that 870, the exact model I wanted.

Isn't she beautiful?
Remington Model 870 Express Tactical with Ghost Ring sights. I promptly got to work adding my own touches to it. The nice thing about the 870 is that there are over 10 million of the things floating around in the world, and aftermarket parts and modifications are widely available.

The current Triela.
For those of you wondering about the name, Triela is a character from a Anime/Manga called Gunslinger Girl, one of my favorites. Triela, the character, uses an old Winchester 1897 Trench Gun, and I thought it appropriate for my first pump shotgun to carry her name.

It's such a beautiful name, is it not?

Triela...rolls of the tongue...

Anyways, Triela's wearing a nifty BLACKHAWK! Knoxx stock, a TacStar sidesaddle, and a pretty standard 2 point sling. I'm pretty excited about the stock, as it claims to reduce 80-95% of felt recoil, a pretty outrageous claim, judging from my own shotgun experiences, but I'm giving BLACKHAWK! the benefit of the doubt. I sure hope it's true.

In other news:

I'll be heading out to Joshua Tree National Park for a two day backpacking trip next weekend. This marks the first Valentine's Day in more than 5 years that I'm not spending with a woman. It feels odd and a little saddening.

I'd be lonelier, but I'm not heading out the the desert by myself. A recently single friend of mine is going with me...well...technically, I'm going with him, but hey, I'm not complaining.

After all is said and done, humans are still social creatures.
